Silicon Based Atomic Clock

Atomic clock devices are very precise time keeping units that far exceed the accuracy of conventional clocks. Current atomic clocks take advantage of the properties of an atomic gas kept in a heated cell. The goal of this project is to develop a clock based on impurity atoms that naturally occur in silicon. Silicon is a material used in the vast majority of electronic devices, which would lead to much smaller and lighter clock devices, which consume less power and are more easily integrated in existing electronics.

There are three patents accociated with this project:

US 8,816,784 B1

US 9,052,698 B1

US 9,753,102 B1
